Lab grown diamonds are real diamonds created in controlled laboratory conditions rather than mined from the earth. They have essentially the same chemical, physical and optical properties as natural diamonds, but typically come at a lower price, allowing customers to choose a larger or higher-quality diamond for the same budget.
Lab grown diamonds generally cost less because they can be produced using controlled technology within a much shorter period and at a scalable supply, whereas natural diamonds are geologically rare and require mining, recovery and a longer supply chain. The lower price does not mean they are imitation diamonds; the difference is primarily their origin and market supply.
The 4Cs Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat Weight are important characteristics used to understand a diamond’s appearance and quality. Cut affects brilliance, colour describes how colourless the stone appears, clarity refers to internal or external characteristics, and carat measures weight. Grading formats can vary by laboratory; notably, GIA now uses Premium and Standard quality assessments for many colourless lab-grown diamonds rather than its traditional natural-diamond grading terminology.
Yes. Because lab grown diamonds have essentially the same material properties as natural diamonds, they have the hardness expected of diamond and are suitable for everyday jewellery such as rings, earrings and pendants. However, like any diamond, they can still chip if struck forcefully at certain angles, so normal jewellery care is recommended.
Our jewellery combines the value of lab grown diamonds with thoughtful design and fine craftsmanship. Instead of paying primarily for geological rarity, customers can put more of their budget towards the diamond size, quality, setting and overall design they actually want.
Buy from a reputable jeweller that clearly discloses that the diamond is laboratory-grown and, where applicable, provides an independent grading or quality-assessment report from a recognised gemological laboratory. The report helps verify the diamond’s laboratory-grown origin and records its assessed characteristics. GIA, for example, currently offers dedicated laboratory-grown diamond quality assessments and identifies qualifying stones as laboratory-grown.
